Kitchen Renovation, part 3
Project complete. This is part 3 in a series that follows the design and construction of a kitchen renovation. Click here for part 2.
This design opens the kitchen to the other areas on the first floor, making it a large open space. The kitchen has been expanded to meet the needs of the clients.
The clients wanted the kitchen to be usable and open while entertaining, but didn’t want guests getting in the way while food was being prepared. The addition of a long island solved this request. Guests could now walk from the living room to the dining room without entering the working part of the kitchen. The outer edge of the island has become the impromptu place for guests to hang out.
This view shows the island in the middle with the kitchen to the right. The door to the left leads to the basement.
This view is taken from the long walking aisle, looking into the kitchen, toward the front of the house.
A view toward the back of the house, standing at the base of the stairs.
A view from the front door. From this view, you can see the unobstructed aisle that connects the dining area to the living room, running along the edge of the kitchen.
