About

About this Blog:

“Bekerwerks” is a combination of my name, David Beker, and “werkstatt” which means workshop. This site is my design workshop; a place for me to develop and experiment with ideas and designs related to architecture, urban design and furniture. It allows me to show my work and it also drives a deeper motivation that pushes me too develop ideas and designs more fully than I would if I kept my sketchbook to myself.

My Design Philosophy:

I believe that success in design comes down to the questions, “Does it work?” and, “Is it beautiful?” These questions are applicable to crafting a piece of furniture, to planning a building, and even to shaping an entire city. The question holds true for all styles and movements in design; from traditional through contemporary and even to experimental.

About Me:

I am a residential architectural designer (not yet licensed). My love of architecture and cities comes from both my education and having worked and lived in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco. It is further influenced by my long stays in Paris and China. I completed my Master of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. I also have a Master of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in Digital Design.
